Morning habits to change your life completely

Mornings are very important in a day. The way you kick start your day is likely to determine how your whole day will be like. So its very good to be keen on how you start your day. Make your mornings better and your days will be greater then your years and eventually your life.

1. Wake up earlier
I know how dragging yourself out of bed can be so painful but waking up earlier is a very crucial part in life. According to research, morning people are more proactive and do well in business.
When you wake up early, you are going to have more time with in the day. More room to do more than you would have done in case you woke up late. It also gives you enough time to prepare for the day. You can take all your time to get ready for either school or work without panicking. Waking up early will also help you beat that traffic.
Briefly, waking up earlier you won’t rush yourself and this will set mood for the rest of your day.

2.No Social media
Don’t reach for your phone the first minutes of your day. It will be very good if you stay away from any of your gadgets in the morning. I for one stay away from my phone every first hour of my mornings such that I don’t be compelled to check those notifications from social media.
Starting your day with checking your emails, facebook or instagram will end up polluting your mind. Your mind get filled up with the other people’s opinions, tragedies happening around the world among other stuff.
Also, If you start off your day with social media, you are likely to spend more time on it throughout the day.
You are supposed to be preparing your day, getting ready for work, don’t allow technology to distract you.

3. Make your bed
According to the U.S. Navy Admiral William H. McCraven, If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. Making your bed will [reinforce] the fact that the little things in life matter. If you can’t do the little things right, you’ll never be able to do the big things right.
Making your bed also feels good. Well, sleeping in a freshly made bed tops the list of things that make us feel good , according to a survey of 2,000 people by Bupa.
It also helps to develop good habits. Once it becomes a ritual, you will find that other good habits will naturally grow. You will begin to realize how quickly you can finish off such tasks thus begin to do more like washing the dishes among other similar house chores.

4. Stretch
Stretching takes just a few minutes of your time but its very important. It increases flexibility and reduces back pain. The American Council on Exercise says that stretching in the morning can be useful when it comes to eliminating aches and pains in the muscles and joints. While these aches and pains can develop at any time throughout the day, they often occur in the morning after the body has been at rest for a long period.
Not to forget, it helps to increase the blood flow to your muscles and well, more blood in your muscles means more energy in the morning . Stretching also increases blood flow to your brain and sharpens your concentration.
The experts also suggest that morning stretches can help to support your energy throughout the entire day.

5. Meditate
When you mention meditation to some people, they feel like its an ancient ritual. However they don’t know the benefits of meditation.
Meditation helps to manage anxiety, stress and depression.
A study commissioned by the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality found that meditation interventions reduce multiple negative dimensions of psychological stress.
Meditation also sharpens your memory. It also makes you happier. Apparently people who meditate live happier lives compared to those who don’t. Meditation is meant to enhance the flow of constructive thoughts and positive emotions.
I personally meditate for several reasons but mainly to clear my head.

6. Drink water
After those long hours of sleep, your body is dehydrated thus its helpful to drink water in the morning such that you re-hydrate.
When you’re dehydrated, your brain is operating on low fuel and this can cause you to feel tired, drained, have headaches, and you may even experience mood fluctuations.
Drinking water in the morning increase the flow of oxygen, and aids in the production of muscle and blood cells.
It will also boost your body’s metabolism by about 24%, which can aid in maintaining a healthy weight.
When you drink water in the morning before eating, you help to purify your colon, allowing nutrients to be absorbed more easily. Your kidneys also function better when you’re getting enough fluids.

7. Exercise
Exercising in the morning will help to boost your metabolism, allowing you to burn more calories for the rest of the day. Research tells us that working out improves your mood since some workouts release endorphins hence exercising in the morning will set your mood for the rest of the day. You will also be less stressed and more focused at work.
Science says that people who workout report at work more empowered.
Exercising in the morning will also make your nature skin glow. It will appear healthier and more beautiful compared to those of who do not exercise in the morning.

8. Have breakfast
Many people in Uganda and other parts of the world skip breakfast. Some because they are in a rush to go to work and some because they can’t afford it so opt to skip it and wait for lunch while others just because they want to control their weight.
Personally, I used to skip breakfast because I didn’t think it was that important. After all I could wakeup late just a few hours to lunch time.
But all that changed when I learnt about the benefits of having breakfast.
Experts say that people who eat breakfast are less likely to overeat the rest of the day.
Various research studies also found out that eating breakfast is important for weight maintenance, metabolism and overall good health. Studies show that breakfast inspires people to make better choices.
