Living your truth might be challenging but worth it

And you will dare to call life a bitch once reality slaps you right in the face and wakes you up from your little fairytale dreams, your social media faked life. You will find yourself lonely once again, now that you will be experiencing the real thing. Your real damn life. Life off the internet. Where you won’t have to wear makeup, borrowed clothes or use a begged phone with a better camera such that you take those good quality pictures and filter them before you post on instagram just to impress your internet admirers.

Do you ever think of how life would have been if you lived your reality without taking the trouble to impress anyone else but yourself, without pretending to be someone you are not but yourself!! When you don’t have to prove your worth to anyone as long as you know who you are?

“Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.” —Oscar Wilde

I have had these conversations before. I always wondered why people fake living totally different lives yet they are not living their reality. But I understood they sometimes want to feel loved and to fit in. Without taking the trouble to ask, as if on a cue someone came to my inbox and nonchalantly opened up to me how she fakes living a luxurious life on the internet for the reasons I mentioned above. How broken she was since she lived in a broken family and needed to feel loved. But why should we be loved for something we’re not?

Many just fake lives simply because they are scared of facing the world. People can be cruel at times and that we should all agree. They can be judgmental and this has forced many to live a certain criteria.

“It’s hard to accept yourself when you live in a world where nobody is like you, or you feel like nobody is like you because there’s no representation.”
-Lauren Jauregui

This is why I write. This is one of the reasons I was compelled to start this blog. To use this as a platform to speak up. To have a voice for myself and of course for the many others out there who unfortunately can’t speak up or can but don’t have a platform like I do. To talk about what I believe in, think and feel. Without being scared of what anyone else will say or think of me.

We should live our truth. Live who we truly are. That’s one thing you have control over. When you know who you are, no one’s opinion can bother you. What’s the meaning of living a double life!!
Why should we live under a pretense coat?
We don’t have to feel lonely in a crowd.
If you’re being true to yourself and it isn’t enough for the people around you then I suggest maybe you should just change rooms.

“To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson

If there is one thing we can do to make ourselves feel and be better without making any investment is honoring ourselves and our feelings. Being ourselves without masks, without pretense. But first of all, we should have the courage to accept and face whatever it is that is compelling us to live a lie. Be it people, places or things.

See yourself for who and what you are. Yes you might not be everything you wish to be, but this is you. This is who you are. Accept yourself and let yourself be. Just stop fighting yourself and live your truth. And, don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
